Development of Regulations for the National Arts and Heritage Promotion Fund (2023 -2024)
Implemented in 2024 with technical and financial support from UNESCO’s Aschberg Programme, this project oversaw the development and validation of regulations for the operationalization of the Malawi National Arts and Heritage Promotion Fund, which is one of the provisions under the recently enacted National Arts and Heritage Act (2024). The regulations were developed through nationwide consultations, facilitated by two technical experts that UNESCO provided. The technical experts were supported by a Technical Review Committee which comprised of representatives from arts associations, civil society organizations, government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) and private cultural and art practitioners. The draft regulations were then validated at the 2024 National Conference on Creative and Heritage Industries in December 2024.
