Film Classification Services
The Censorship Division offers film classification services. Films meant for distribution, sale or public exhibition should, as required by law, be classified into various age groups before they are distributed, sold or exhibited. Film makers should also ensure that the final film product is classified before being sold, distributed or exhibited. Malawi has four film classification grades for films which are legible for consumption as assigned by the Censorship Division. The general public is encouraged to abide by the classification grades and guide young viewers accordingly when viewing films.
You can access film classification services from Lilongwe Offices, Pagat House, Off Paul Kagame Road or from Blantyre at Blantyre Old Boma, Victoria Avenue/Hendereson Street Corner. For any inquiries contact the Principal Cultural Standards Officer on 0888 296 277 or the Cultural Standards Officer on 0999 944 440.
